HISTORY
Audio Video Design, Inc. was incorporated in 1994 to provide a cost-effective alternative to high-priced teleprompter hardware and software products.
AVD is the only professional teleprompter hardware and software manufacturer that was started up in the great State of Florida, originally in West Palm Beach, now located in Melbourne, on Florida's high-tech Space Coast.
Our first products were based on the Amiga computer platform, which were replaced by DOS and Windows OS computers, starting in 1995. AVD made its first NAB appearance that same year, and showed the first Windows 3.1-based teleprompter software in the world.
Other milestones in AVD's history:
- NAB 1997: Introduction of the AV10 Flatscreen Color Prompter, the first high-brightness lightweight portable camera prompter based on LCD flatscreen technology
- NAB 1998: Introduction of EasyReaderWin, 32-bit software running under Win95/98. This was true 32-bit software that loaded double-byte fonts and scrolled them ultra-smooth. Our competitors showed their DOS software running in a window that year
- NAB 2000: Introduction of the AV12 and AV15 with high-brightness monitors manufactured by AVD in our Melbourne facility, and introduction of EasyReaderLITE™, now the preferred software in educational applications
- NAB 2002: Introduction of a mid-priced line of flatscreen prompters, the CV (Composite Video) line, while continuing to increase brightness levels for our HB (HighBright) prompter line
Audio Video Design, Inc. is owned and operated by Americans, unlike some of our larger competitors, who are owned and operated by foreign interests. We support American manufacturing and are proud to affix the "Made in U.S.A." tag to our American-built products.
Always look to AVD for the most innovative and brightest ideas in the teleprompter industry, with exciting new applications continually under development, including the new CA flatscreen series, and our own EasyReaderPRO™, EasyReaderNR™ NewsRoom, and EasyReaderSHOWPRO™ Win2K/XP dual-screen teleprompter software.
